Roberto Bortolotti In his native Friuli, Roberto Bortolotti studied Technical Drawing to take his Technical Surveyor Diploma. Leaving this peaceful, rural area of Northeast Italy, sandwiched between the Alps and the Adriatic, Bortolotti sought out the more hospitable excitement of London. Inspired by Fabrizio Plessi, Jean Tinguely and Olafur Eliasson, he took a Foundation Course at Camberwell. A participant in both the ‘Nth Art 001 Show’ in 2003 and the ‘Streatham Festival’ in 2004, Bortolotti takes as his subject the relationship between the natural environment and the artificial world or human versus machine. Similar to the Arte Povera group of artists, Bortolotti creates installations made out of ‘found objects’, sometimes combining this with his video work. Currently, Bortolotti is furthering his fascination and developing his interest in Fine Art New Media at Chelsea College of Art. |
Rebecca Evanson Manchester, born and bred, Rebecca Evanson studied Medicine at University College London. Working as a Community Paediatrician in Islington, led Evanson to analyse her response to her own daily experience in assessing and monitoring the developmental progress of the children she encountered. This questioning has inspired her to respond by creating painting, photography and installation work and the completion of a BA in Fine Art at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design. Influenced by Foucault's 'The Birth of the Clinic', the impact of the Enlightenment and the re-ordering of scientific knowledge, Evanson's art concentrates on the question of 'Are You Normal For Your Age?' challenging the Medical world's expectation that child development can be quantified. Previously she has exhibited at the Rossi Gallery, Brookland Church in Romney Marsh, and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. |
Rob Dewan-Syed Born in Hobiganj in Bangladesh, Rob Dewan-Syed graduated in Graphic and Media Design from the London College of Communication. Dewan-Syed credits his Graphic Design tutor, Hamish Muir, as the influence on his work, yet it is Mukid Choudhury, a celebrated choreographer, who is the most profound inspiration for his life. A contributor to the exposition ‘Imagination’ in Bangladesh, 2002, and ‘Nth Art 001’ in 2003; Dewan-Syed defines his current work as a vast reinterpretation of data. Ranging in both style and subject this includes important historical debate in the form of Darwin’s ‘Theory of Evolution’ through to the prosaic nature of everyday objects. Dewan-Syed’s works often express abstract emotional states, implying existential or philosophical responses to the human ‘condition’, as in the piece ‘Existence’, featured in Noyah-Luce. |
